Winter falls on Temagami

Often, snowfall can mean the difference between a quick winter freeze-up or a very slow one.  Once ice begins to form across the bay, if snow covers it, it will act as insulation and hinder the building of good solid ice.  Often the snow will turn to slush on the weak ice and create a whitish ice that isn't as strong as the clear black-looking ice formed by pure water.  Always use caution when venturing out onto the ice for your winter vacation.
