In winter the Canada Jay has a craving for animal
fats and meat. He's been known to set off a trapper's freshly set
traps because he wants to feed on the bait left to catch other animals. He
will pack bread crumbs and seeds into a ball and store them in the crevice of a
tree for later. Canada Jays travel in family units as they search for food
so don't be surprised if you see one come to feed and then notice there's
another one watching from not far away .
